Bees are recognized for their important ecological role as pollinators of multiple plants, both wild and cultivated. In Colombia, the diversity of this group is little known in most ecosystems. The Tatacoa-Huila Desert is a highly degraded tropical dry forest of great paleontological and tourist value. It is a highly biodiverse area, however, the diversity of bees was little known. This work aimed to establish the diversity of bees in the Tatacoa Desert.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The La Tatacoa Natural History Museum has the first exhibition of wild bees from the dry tropical forest of La Tatacoa. These specimens are located in the VALERIE ANDERS Paleontological Research Laboratory where you can see 2 entomological tables with 63 species of bees, out of the 105 identified during the study.<\/p>

Specimens were collected by direct and indirect methods. The direct method consisted of capturing the specimens on the flowers with the help of an entomological net. The collected samples were stored in falcon tubes (250 ml) with 70% alcohol for sacrifice and transport to the entomology laboratory of the UMNG, Cajic\u00e1, where the specimens were washed, dried and mounted. The specimens were labeled, entered and registered in the database of the entomological collection (UMNG-ins).<\/p>

This collection was donated by Biologist Andr\u00e9s Felipe Herrera Motta from the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada in Bogot\u00e1, a doctoral candidate at the University of Kansas (United States), who took part in the analysis with a large research group.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
