Collection and cellar
One of the most important areas of the Museum of Natural History La Tatacoa is the warehouse where all the paleontological material, rock samples and other objects of the museum are stored.
The collection of the vigías has about 1800 fossil specimens, all with a collection number and registered in a database.
Visitors to the museum will have the possibility of observing the interior of the cellar through windows to learn about the process of storage and care of the different collections.
This space is where all the fossil pieces collected in different localities of the Tatacoa Desert are stored, as well as fossils from other regions of Colombia. Our visitors have the opportunity to enter our warehouse and see up close part of our collection and large fossil pieces such as skulls of caimans, crocodiles and some remains of giant tortoises, also see some jackets containing fossils that are in the process of being prepared and then be studied.
